BIBB COUNTY LOST A DEPUTY IN THE LINE OF DUTY IN A SENSELESS GANG ACT

In the early morning hours, Deputy Joseph Whitehead was delivering a warrant for a drug arrest with some other Bibb County officers. Mr. Whitehead was shot and killed, and the five suspects involved have all been arrested. God bless the family of Deputy Whitehead, and hopefully these thugs will get the death penalty.

My condolences go out to the Whitehead family and to the Bibb County Sheriff's Department.

I regret that this Northeastern native came here only to die but he helped others live through his work.

But I thank God Almighty that, imperfect as they are, we have a County Commission that will gladly give Jerry Modena the manpower and equipment he needs to help prevent another tragedy as this.

Charlie Bishop at least knows- as a former cop- what our officers need.

Finally, if you do not think having a city go down the drain due to political, moral, and economic decay hurts all of us in Bibb remember; the thin blue line got thinner and there is one less cop on Bibb's roads.
